Floyd and Hilda Drake were longtime residents of Charlottetown.  Hilda experienced serious illness and her care required frequent encounters with health care providers over the years.  Nurses not only provided excellent care to Hilda but also recognized the challenges a family faces when caring for a family member.  Charles and Ethnee Booker raised their family in the Saint John River area. They believed in education for their children and were so proud of their academic accomplishments.

UPEI is grateful to Patrice Drake (BSc in Home Economics from UPEI; RN from the PEI School of Nursing; MN from MUN of Newfoundland; and PhD(c) University of Alberta), and her family for establishing these awards that are granted to a graduating nursing student who has demonstrated a passion for mental health nursing through classroom and clinical study, and, to a fourth year nursing student with an expressed passion for maternity nursing.
